 It's been 5 years since little Renesmee Cullen was born in Forks, Washington to vampire Edward Cullen and human, now vampire, Isabella Swan-Cullen and imprinted on by werewolf, Jacob Black. Jacob and Renesmee are now engaged and preparing for a wedding. But now it is time for the whole Cullen family to relocate because their ages are being questioned to their appearances. And Jacob is tagging along, not wanting to be apart from his future wife.
Their location: Mystic Falls, Virginia.
Upon their arrival, the Cullens meet Stefan and Damon Salvatore--two vampires who look and operate completely different than they do. They have fangs and they do not shimmer in the sunlight. They have protective rings that keep them alive during the day. Their two worlds will collide in many ways.
One of these ways is when Cullen member Jasper Hale meets Damon, who tempts him to convert back to feeding on human blood. This worries the Cullens and Stefan, who feel like Damon may be using Jasper's abilities for his own purposes.
Meanwhile, Jacob meets Elena Gilbert and immediately befriends here. But Renesmee becomes jealous, thinking that it is something more. And Stefan and Damon--being after Elena's affections--become violent about the situation and threaten Jacob who becomes defensive about his life.
How will things pan out in the end?
